Word of God Sunday - 3rd Sunday of the Year

In his Apostolic Letter, "Aperuit Illis", published in the Feast of St Jerome, 30th September 2019, Pope Francis invites us to mark the 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time each year as "Word of God Sunday". He hopes it will "enable the Church to experience anew how the risen Lord opens up for us the treasury of his word and enables us to proclaim its unfathomable riches before the world." (AI 2)

This was something he had already reflected on and suggested at the close of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy (Misericordia et Misera, 7) and which he now wishes us to mark in our parishes and communities each year.

In time, this page will offer some reflections, suggestions and materials for parish use both in preparation for and celebration of the particular Sunday.
