COP-26: Reflections and Resources

by Editor | Nov 12, 2021 | Featured, News and Events, Resources and Publications | 0 comments

The United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-26) took place in Glasgow between the 1st and 12th of November 2021.

Many international players – nation states large and small, regional governments, NGOs, scientific advisors, activists and pressure groups, faith groups and many more – came to the city to share their experiences, argue their cases and present their vision for tackling the global climate emergency.

The Church too took its place, both formally via the delegation from the Holy See, led by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin, and informally, through its various agencies and, of course, through the local Church in Scotland, hosting, praying, lobbying and encouraging delegates and the wider public alike.

Here, we present a few resources emerging from the Conference which might be of interest in our ongoing reflections on the issues discussed.

Covid-19: Emerging from Lockdown

Coronavirus Pandemic

The Bishops of Scotland have issued advice to guide parishes and clergy as they prepare for the gradual re-opening of our churches in line with the Scottish Government's phased approach to ending the "lockdown" occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic. This page has some essential information and documents. Visit the Bishops' Conference website for more details (ww.bcos.org.uk)

Musical settings of missal texts must receive an imprimatur from the Bishops' Conference in whose territory they first seek to publish. Click above for a Guide for Composers for those who seek to publish such settings for liturgical use in Scotland.

The Church seeks the “full, conscious and active participation” by all the faithful in the liturgy, a fundamental aim for all those involved in public worship.
